Talc Powder: Layered Magnesium Silicate for Plastics, Coatings, Paper and Cosmetics

Talc powder is a natural layered silicate mineral, mainly composed of hydrous magnesium silicate with the chemical formula Mg₃(Si₄O₁₀)(OH)₂. It is formed by hydrothermal alteration of magnesium-rich rocks, featuring soft texture (Mohs hardness 1.0–1.5), smooth feel, excellent lubricity, chemical inertness, high heat resistance (refractoriness 1490–1510°C), and good electrical insulation. Typical composition: SiO₂ 60%–65%, MgO 20%–30%, low iron and heavy metals. Products are classified by application: industrial grade, coating grade, plastic grade, paper grade, cosmetic grade, food/pharmaceutical grade, etc., compliant with GB/T 15342-2023.

Production process: raw ore → crushing → grinding → magnetic separation → flotation → drying → ultrafine grinding → classification → packaging. High-purity talc has high whiteness (≥90%), concentrated particle size, good dispersion, and low asbestos risk. It is widely used as functional filler and processing aid in multiple industries.

In plastics & rubber: improves stiffness, heat resistance, dimensional stability, and surface smoothness; reduces cost; used in PP/PE, automotive parts, and tire inner liner. In coatings & paints: enhances suspension, anti-settling, matte effect, weather resistance, and scrub resistance; suitable for interior/exterior latex, industrial anti-corrosion, and wood coatings. In papermaking: increases smoothness, opacity, ink absorption, and retention; reduces wear and cost. In ceramics: lowers firing temperature, improves glaze gloss and thermal shock resistance; for sanitaryware and electric ceramics. In cosmetics/pharmaceuticals: as anti-caking, lubricating, and skin-protective agent; used in pressed powder, eye shadow, talcum powder, and tablet excipients (asbestos-free required). In food: as release/anti-stick agent for candies and preserved fruits, complying with GB 2760.

Key quality indicators: whiteness, particle size (mesh/D50), SiO₂/MgO content, Fe₂O₃, heavy metals (Pb, As), moisture, asbestos, pH, oil absorption. Our company supplies 200–5000 mesh talc powder with customized particle size and packaging (bulk bag, 25kg bag). We provide sample testing and technical support, with stable export to Southeast Asia, Europe, and America.
