With the rapid development of the global pet care industry, the demand for high-quality cat litter is growing year by year. Cat litter grade bentonite powder, especially sodium montmorillonite-based bentonite, has become the preferred raw material for clumping cat litter due to its excellent water absorption, fast clumping speed, and strong odor absorption capacity. Sodium montmorillonite in bentonite powder has a unique layered structure—when it comes into contact with cat urine, it quickly absorbs water (up to 8-12 times its own weight) and swells, forming firm clumps that are easy to scoop out; at the same time, its porous structure can adsorb ammonia (the main source of cat urine odor) and other odorous substances, keeping the litter box clean and odor-free.
The key performance indicators of clumping cat litter are clumping speed, clump hardness, water absorption, and odor control. A high-quality cat litter should form clumps within 10-30 seconds after absorbing urine, with clump hardness ≥1000 g (to avoid breaking when scooping), water absorption ≥300%, and ammonia adsorption rate ≥80%. When our cat litter grade bentonite powder is used to produce cat litter (mixed with a small amount of binder and deodorant), the clumping speed is 15-25 seconds, the clump hardness is 1200-1500 g, and the water absorption is 320%-350%. A pet product manufacturer in Zhejiang Province used our bentonite powder to produce clumping cat litter: the product was well received by consumers, with a customer repurchase rate of 75% (higher than the industry average of 60%), and the main feedback was "fast clumping, easy to clean, and good odor control". In addition, our bentonite powder has low dust content (≤2% when tested by the tumble dust method), which can reduce respiratory irritation to cats and their owners, and avoid dust accumulation on furniture and floors.
For commercial cat litter (used in pet shops, cat cafes, and animal shelters), which has high requirements for durability and cost-effectiveness, we provide coarse-grained cat litter grade bentonite powder (particle size 1-3 mm). This powder forms larger clumps (diameter 3-5 cm) after absorbing urine, which are more durable and not easy to break during multiple uses, reducing the frequency of litter replacement. The water absorption per kilogram of cat litter can reach 3.2-3.5 kg, which is 10%-15% higher than that of fine-grained cat litter, lowering the daily use cost for commercial users. For household cat litter, we provide fine-grained bentonite powder (particle size 0.5-1 mm), which has a softer texture and is more comfortable for cats to step on, reducing the risk of cats refusing to use the litter box.
Our cat litter grade bentonite powder has strict quality control to ensure safety and environmental protection. The product is mined from non-toxic and harmless bentonite ore, and 经过 multiple purification processes (gravity separation, magnetic separation, flotation) to remove impurities such as heavy metals (lead ≤0.0005%, arsenic ≤0.0003%) and harmful bacteria (total bacterial count ≤100 CFU/g), meeting the safety standards of the European Union REACH and the United States FDA for pet products.
