Barite powder is a natural non-metallic mineral powder dominated by barium sulfate (BaSO₄), with a specific gravity of 4.2–4.6 and Mohs hardness of 3–3.5. It is white or off-white, chemically inert, insoluble in water and common acids, and features high density, stable performance, low oil absorption, and strong X-ray absorption. As a core high-density functional filler, it complies with GB/T 5005-2010 and meets REACH/RoHS requirements, widely used in oil/gas drilling, coatings, plastics, rubber, radiation shielding, and chemical industries.
Production process: high-grade barite ore → crushing → grinding → flotation → magnetic separation → drying → ultrafine grinding → classification → packaging. High-quality barite powder has BaSO₄ ≥94%, low iron and heavy metals, uniform particle size (200–3000 mesh), good dispersion, and stable batch quality.
In oil and gas drilling, it accounts for 80%–90% of consumption, serving as the key weighting agent for drilling fluid.
