Silica, commonly known as white carbon black, refers to amorphous hydrated silica (SiO₂·nH₂O) in white powder form. It is mainly divided into precipitated silica and fumed silica, featuring high specific surface area, high porosity, excellent reinforcement, thickening & thixotropy, anti-settling, matting, and chemical inertness. Non-toxic, odorless, heat-resistant, and electrically insulating, it complies with RoHS, REACH and food-contact standards, and is widely used in rubber, coatings, inks, plastics, and daily chemicals.
Produced via precipitation (sulfuric acid method) or high-temperature gas-phase hydrolysis, the product is processed through reaction, aging, filtration, washing, drying, and milling. Precipitated silica has a specific surface area of 100–300 m²/g and high oil absorption, ideal as a rubber reinforcing filler. Fumed silica offers 200–400 m²/g and superior dispersion, suitable for high-end coatings and thickening applications. Premium grades show low moisture (<1.5%), low impurities, narrow particle size distribution, and good dispersion.
Core Advantage 1: Rubber Reinforcement & Green Tires (Largest Application)
- Tire Tread & Sidewall: Improves tensile strength, tear resistance, and wear resistance; reduces rolling resistance by 20%+, boosting fuel efficiency and EV range.
- Footwear & Rubber Parts: Reinforces transparent/colored soles, hoses, seals, and conveyor belts; non-staining and aging-resistant.
Core Advantage 2: Coatings, Inks & Adhesives (High Value-Added)
- Thickening & Anti-Sagging: Controls viscosity in solvent/water-based coatings; prevents pigment settling.
- Matting & Anti-Gloss: Delivers uniform matte finish for furniture, plastic, and architectural coatings.
- Ink & Adhesives: Enhances print sharpness and anti-blocking; improves bond strength and thixotropy in adhesives.
Core Advantage 3: Plastics, Daily Chemicals & Agriculture
- Plastics & Masterbatch: Improves scratch resistance, dimensional stability, and anti-blocking in films and sheets.
- Cosmetics & Toothpaste: Used as abrasive, thickener, and anti-caking agent; mild and safe for oral care.
- Feed & Pesticides: Anti-caking and carrier additive; improves flowability and efficacy.
