Mica powder for paints pigments ceramics cosmetics electrical industry welding rods

Time : 2025-05-29

Mica powder is a multifunctional industrial material derived from mica, a group of silicate minerals characterized by their thin, layered (platy) structure and perfect basal cleavage. Formed through geological processes in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, natural mica reserves are predominantly found in India, China, the United States, and Russia. The main types processed into powder include muscovite (light-colored) and biotite (dark), alongside synthetic mica for specialized applications.

Industrially, mica powder serves as a filler in rubber and plastics, enhancing mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and reducing overall weight. In construction, it improves the weather resistance of roofing materials, adhesives, and plasters. The cosmetics industry leverages its natural luster and skin-adhesive qualities for luxury makeup formulations, while its anti-caking properties aid in producing smooth powder textures. Additionally, its low thermal conductivity makes it valuable in thermal insulation for appliances and machinery.
